Join a Mastermind After 6 Months of Blogging - My Beginning

Alright, a little backstory. I started Greatest Worth officially in June of 2017. That’s when the blog launched and I started treating it like a business. But, this business has been in process for years. You can read about that evolution here. Let’s just say, I’m no 6-month wonder girl. No way.

My process has been an evolution and unfolding of one opportunity to another. These past few days I’ve been pinching myself in unbelief. Not really sure that this is actually happening, but embracing every opportunity (and even all the obstacles) that come my way!

The first unfolding came when I found Elite Blog Academy (EBA). I had NO idea how to start a blog, and while there was A LOT of free advice on the internet it was disjointed and unproven. Being a scientist, I wanted to learn from someone who had done it all before me and had done it with grace and success.

So, in February of 2017, I purchased EBA. Let me just start by saying, this was a big investment and one that took some budget meetings with Sam and discussion of our Values. Of course you already know we decided to go for it!

From the minute I sat down with the first module, I knew I had something solid and true to learn and grow from. The process of learning and becoming has been unfolding ever since!

The course is outstanding and worth every penny (and then some). The community of EBA is supportive and uplifting, and always willing to answer questions – even for the beginner of beginners! It deserves a post of it’s own (and it will have one…stay tuned)

It was in that online community that I began to make some virtual friends. Friends that became in-life friends once I attended ACTIVATE 2017 in the fall. At the time, this was one of the scariest things I had done up to this point in my life (and I’ve had four kids!). I felt so small and ridiculous with my 3-month-old blog, 30 subscribers and VERY limited website traffic. My elevator pitch was terrible and my writing left a LOT to be desired.

Nonetheless, I flew across the country for a conference full of people I’d never met to try and learn more about how to get my message out to the world. Because that’s the goal, right? To help people find my stuff – stuff that is important and worthwhile – to make a greater positive impact on the lives’ of others! I knew my content worked, I just had to get people to find me!

Well, it’s funny how the Universe works. Once I took that financial and emotional risk, other opportunities became very apparent. At ACTIVATE, I upgraded my ticket to include a pre-conference seminar that was a much more intimate group and included EBA VIPs from 2017 – a mastermind group founded and led by Ruth Soukup, the creator of EBA.

I landed in a small group with one VIP in particular. She is kind and generous and was being quite complimentary of me and my baby blog. It was crazy town, I thought (anybody else struggle with these moments of questionable worth and self-doubt in the midst of stress? Can I get an A-MEN?).

This VIP ended up showing my blog home page to Ruth herself, who was also quite complimentary. It was ridiculous…and amazing!

Fast forward a couple of days to the regular conference time and during one of the big ball room sessions my baby blog is up on the jumbotron as a way to do it right! Ruth Soukup is talking about ME!

I mean, come on…. are you even kidding me?!

On the last day of the conference, Ruth told all 300+ of us how to apply for the 2018 EBA VIP group. I knew, right then and there, it was what I wanted. That desire, that calling was unmuted by the program’s price tag, which was hefty; particularly as I was (and am) paying for all of my business expenses through our personal budget – (we’re committed to NOT taking on debt to make this dream happen!).

So, I applied. Honestly, only expecting a gracious “No. Not this year. I hope you reapply next year.”

Mystery number 1: If you ask for something, you just might get it.

And I did.

Holy, what?!

At this point, Sam and I needed to decide as a family if we were going to accept this offer. Business coaching is not a cheap endeavor. But, I also knew that if I accepted this offer and committed to working my butt off to implement the lessons and strategies that rose from this group I would gain some real traction in my business. I’d have the cumulative wisdom of SO many going before me.

As you may have seen, I took the opportunity. We stretched financially and emotionally and during the first week of January I flew to Florida for our first of four in-person sessions.

I met with some INCREDIBLE, smart and successful women (shout out to the one man!) and have been in awe ever since. Well, awe and a little bit taken by fear. Now, I’m back to awe and totally down to business.

I’m sure you’re wondering what the heck this has to do with Greatest Worth?!

Well, everything.

My mission is to make personal finance beautiful. To make personal finance something you desire because of the beauty it brings to you.

I know what it’s like to have a passion you don’t have time for.

To have creativity knocking on your door constantly begging to be in collaboration with you.

I know what it’s like to let fear talk you out of those ideas.

Or, to have finances be a barrier to starting.

I’ve been there.

But, I’m here to say, there are other options. You don’t have to live as a slave to your J.O.B. or your F.E.A.R.

The world needs you and your gifts. Your creativity. Your ideas.

If your ideas have anything to do with an online business model, I HIGHLY suggest you start with Elite Blog Academy. The community is incredible. And I’d love to meet you and hear your story at ACTIVATE 2018!

Because, your journey will begin IF you just take that first step. But, be careful. The Universe is ready to respond. I’m proof of that!

P.S. I thought it would be fun to put my stats in here and see how I grow since joining the Mastermind! You can follow along with my progress right here on the blog!
